Uttarakhand has great demand for school teachers as there are a number of private and public schools. There are number of boarding schools which require teachers who are good mentors as well since they have to cater to children staying far away from their parents. To become a teacher one has complete graduation along with a BEd training.
For Nursery and pre school teaching, along with a graduate degree, a diploma or Certificate in Pre-school teacher education programme of a duration of not less than one year, or B.Ed is required. Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or Diploma of Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is mandatory for teaching at the primary school level.
One can also choose to be a college professor or lecturer after completing Masters degree and then successfully passing National Eligibility Test (NET) held by UGC or State Eligibility Test for Teachers.
