All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh

With the aim of correcting regional imbalances in healthcare, AIIMS, Rishikesh along with 6 other new AIIMS was set up by by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). AIIMS Rishikesh plans to attain self sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training in the region. It was formally inaugurated on 20th of September 2012 under the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2012 which was passed in the Lok Sabha on August 30,2012 and in Rajya Sabha on September 4, 2012. The first batch consisted of 50 medical students.

Main mission is to establish a centre of excellence in medical education, training, health care and research imbued with scientific culture, compassion for the sick and commitment to serve the under served.
